Homeschool: Cities of the Future

From Leonardo DaVinci’s futuristic designs to SimCity’s City of Tomorrow, creative people have been designing visionary cities for centuries. What do you think city life might be like 100 years from now? In this class students explore visionary ideas from the past and learn about new ways to design “greener” cities to address needs we will face as our climate continues to warm. Will cars be replaced by solar-powered vehicles? Can marshlands be rebuilt along the city’s edges to combat coastal flooding? Will vertical farms replace office towers? Students are challenged to use their own imaginations and incorporate new sustainable design ideas to create their own models of an ideal city of the future.
