Structures & Strength - Skyscrapers
The Structure and Strength: Skyscrapers workshop explores the workings of the world's tallest structures and challenges students to build a tall, stable structure. A short presentation compares the human skeleton with the structure of skyscrapers, including basic forces that act on skyscrapers. Students also see the importance geometry plays in the design of skyscraper structures. This knowledge is then applied to individual models that students build and can take back to their classrooms. For high school students, structures can be tested with weights to understand the structural integrity of their design.
