Reading the Streetscape: Greenwich Village Walking Tour

Using the built environment as a visual tool for understanding the city’s growth in the 19th and 20th centuries, Greenwich Village tells a story of riches to rags and back again. Participants discovered the many changes this neighborhood experienced as the city’s advancing population steadily moved northward, from townhouse to tenement to tower, Greenwich Village’s residential buildings and important commercial buildings chronicle these changes.
